KNEC pays invigilators and centre managers KSh 550 per day and supervisors KSh 680 per day. These rates stay in force until the Council issues a circular saying otherwise. KNEC classifies the money as a transport reimbursement, not wages, and your total is the daily rate multiplied by the days you serve.

KCSE days follow the centre’s timetable, so your total may differ slightly.

How many days did KJSEA take in 2026?

KNEC’s timetable set a rehearsal on 23 October and papers from 26 to 30 October. That makes six working days, which is why KJSEA invigilators are projected at KSh 3,300 and supervisors at KSh 4,080.

When will payment come?

KNEC pays after the exams are marked and results are released. Payments for the 2025 cycle began on 6 August 2026, after Parliament approved KSh 1.5 billion. In 2025, 66,908 supervisors and invigilators served in KCSE. Delays led KNUT and KUPPET to threaten a boycott of the 2026 exams.

How to avoid missed payments

  • Match your name on the CP2 portal to your ID and your M-Pesa line.
  • Update your ID number, TSC number and KRA PIN on CP2.
  • Have your centre manager sign and stamp attendance registers.
  • Raise any unrecorded deployment with your Sub-County Director of Education, quoting your centre code, role and year.

What unions are asking for

KUPPET has proposed KSh 3,000 per day for invigilators, KSh 3,500 for supervisors and KSh 4,500 for principals. KNEC has not adopted these figures.
